Flip, Flop, Kickback
BRAVO ZULU to Bob Zvacek and his bride, Cindy, for organizing the 2024 Florida Comearound at Jacksonville Beach, FL, Tuesday through Thursday 23-25 April.
In attendance were 45 classmates, 29 wives, 6 widows and 8 significant others. The name and the theme for this event was “FLIP, FLOP, KICKBACK”, and the word RELAX was implied and diligently practiced by all who attended. Jimmy Buffet would have been proud.
The first evening was a no-host super casual gathering at Lynch’s Irish Pub where we re-connected, laughed a lot, drank cold beer and ate some great “pub grub’.
On Wednesday morning, a large group of ’66ers ambled over to the Maple Street Biscuit Company for a hearty breakfast to start the day.
The Beaches Museum was the next stop. The Museum is actually a history park featuring the 1903 Pablo Beach Post Office, the 1911 Train Engine, railway depot, historic houses, cabin, gardens and St. Paul’s By-the-Sea Chapel, one of the oldest historical structures on the Beaches.
The second evening was a casually elegant sit-down dinner at a 99 year-old hotel, the Casa Marina, hosted by Bob Zvacek. The dinner was wonderful, the conversation lively, the guitarist playing background music was excellent and the host’s Manhattan-infused commentary quite humorous.

Our last evening was held on the 4th floor open air terrace of our host hotel, the Margaritaville Hotel. It was a delicious buffet dinner, the table settings on the Astro-Turf were gorgeous, the ocean view spectacular and the margaritas were delicious and flowing abundantly at the open bar.
Jack Drake was our ComeAround Photographer and organized our group photos. Charlie Votava led all the guys in singing NAVY BLUE AND GOLD. The perfect wrap to an occasion that brought us all together for fellowship and fun.
