’66 CLASS PRESIDENT’S EMAIL TO THE CLASS 9 OCTOBER 2026

Greetings Classmates!

I felt this quick note to our entire Class was needed and appropriate after our recent 60th Reunion. It is hard to convey how really special it was to see old friends to reminisce together and tell some fun stories again. We had 196 Classmates return with many beautiful spouses to make a total of 418 attendees. We also had 32 Sail On Solo Widows join us which was awesome. The receptions, dinner, tailgate, game and prayer breakfast all went too fast. And the only way the reunion could have been better was to have beaten Air Force. The most meaningful but painful event was the Memorial Service in the Chapel with the bell rung for each of 372 Classmates who have left us. A number hard to believe.

And no note on our Reunion would be complete if I didn’t mention and THANK our Executive Committee, particularly Chuck Grutzius, and Webmaster Therese Long-Fish for all the incredible effort and teamwork to plan and pull it off. It involved months of work and it showed. All the material handed out to those who attended is also being mailed to every Classmate so look for it in coming weeks.

In closing, here are some thoughts about future planning. There was a shared emotion by those attending that this should not be our last reunion. It was simply way too special. So your Executive Committee will be gathering input and ideas over next month so we can propose how, when and if we should plan another reunion. Probably a shorter interval like 3 years may be better. In any case, all thoughts and ideas are welcome.

So please stay healthy and enjoy the coming holidays! Cheers and BEAT ARMY!
